WOKING 19TH AUGUST 2007
Dan Hope WIN/Ondrej Stary LOSS
Another successful night for the Lumpini Gym, with both Dan and Ondrej delivering some great peformances.
Dan was first to fight for Lumpini against last minute opponent Danny Byrne. Dan has been incredibly unlucky in the past year with his opponents pulling out days before the show, so it was great that he got a bout, so thanks to Danny for taking the fight at such short notice. In the first round, Danny came out fast looking for a war, but Dan soon found his range and went on to take every round with some great low kicks, knees and punches. Danny never gave up and stayed in the fight, but Dan was applying too much pressure for him to get back into the fight. A well deserved win for Dan.
Ondrej fought a great fight against John Edwards of the KO Gym over 5x2minute rounds. This was a very close fight, with Ondrej scoring well with punches and kicks and John scoring with knees and high kicks. The fight was level going into the 5th and this was the deciding round, John with the higher work rate took the last round to give him the victory but nevertheless a good performance by Ondrej.

Stuart Wright 01/08/1977 - 26/07/2007
It is with great sadness that we post the death of former Lumpini Kent fighter and friend to many Stuart Wright. Sadly, Stuart was killed in Iraq when his group were ambushed by insurgents whilst he was working in close protection security.
Stuart was an inspiration to all at the Lumpini Gym, when he joined the gym he was a very quiet lad, and to start with Thai Boxing did not come naturally. Then his confidence started to grow as did his talent. He then went on to fight for the Lumpini Gym and was one of the most talented fighters that the Lumpini Gym has ever had. He then joined the Royal Marines and excelled in the aspects of his new career, and spent a long period of time in active duty in Iraq. On returning to the UK, he joined the special forces (SBS) and in the last year quit the military to work as a close protection officer, where he had spent most of his time in Afghanistan. Last week he was posted back to Iraq after securing a new job.
Stuart was a respectful, talented and most importantly a person that no one had a bad word to say about. He will be sorely missed by everyone at Lumpini. Our deepest condolences and all our thoughts go to his family. Rest in Peace Stuart.

14th July 2007 - CAGE RAGE, WEMBLEY ARENA
Tom Watson WINS
Tom 'Kong' Watson took a points win over Ed 'Smasher' Smith of Elite Gym under Pro MMA rules @86kg. Tom dominated the fight from the opening bell and displayed some great stand up and ground skills throughout the 3x5minute rounds. Tom's low kicks were devastating and buckled his opponents legs. Great result Tom - Well Done!!

1st July 2007 - PENZANCE, CORNWALL
Ondrej Stary WINS
Ondrej Stary competed in his first 5 round fight and took a points win over Lorne Castle of Sukhothai Gym @ 73kg. Ondrej looked like he was going to take the fight early after putting Castle down with 2 eight counts in the first round. A strong hearted Castle didn't quit and came back from the counts and pressured Ondrej to the end. Ondrej was unable to produce a third knockdown which would have ended the fight early, but his strong early rounds gave him a points win over Castle. Well done Ondrej.
