22nd Apri l 2007 - AMSTERDAM/LONDON
A busy weekend for the Lumpini Gym. Dan Hope (77kg) and Ondrej Stary (73kg) both competed in Amsterdam, accompanied by Sean and Mark.
After a series of coincidences or comical disasters, the lads both gave great performances with a WIN for Ondrej and a Loss for Dan, both point decisions. On arriving in Amsterdam, the team were informed there was no hotel for them to stay in, the weigh in failed to happen and they were left in the gym until midnight and still with no food after being told to wait until the Saturday night weigh in!! After a night sleeping on sofas and kids beds of a friend of the promoter they awoke on Sunday - fight day!! with NO breakfast until 2.00pm. A sixty-one bout fight card and the lads competed one after another so Ondrej had no chance to prepare as he was in Dan's corner. However, with everything going against them and opponents who looked suspisciously several weight divisions higher, and as found out later in the bar much more experienced, the lads performances were outstanding.
Dan was first up and battled his way against a guy with awesome low kicks, but the decision fairly went to the Dutch lad. Then Ondrej was up next and took all three rounds with a battering of punches and kicks in a very tough fight. Both lads proved themselves with amazing strength and courage.
To end to a comical weekend, the lads were put up in a Tanning salon for the final night, but strangely managed to find themselves a B&B in minutes for the last night after they had been told no accomodation could be found.....!!!

Well done to Lumpini instructor Rachel for also competing the London Marathon on the same day. Which was the hottest London Marathon on record, Rach got around, way off her time, but the heat got to her (the girl who is always cold!!!) and a few casualties on the way for her to help made it an emotional run, but she is planning to run again next year, so it can't have been too bad!!

Capital Punishment Show
Capital Punishment - Southampton 2007
1ST APRIL 2007
!!SHOW CANCELLED!!
Due to 18 fighters pulling out in the last 10 days before the show and no replacements being available, the show was cancelled - a first for Lumpini Promotions in 20 years of promoting!! This was a huge dissapointment to the Lumpini Gym who had put in so much hard work, the fighters who were still committed to competing and had trained so hard and also to those who were coming to spectate, but Capital Punishment will be back!!
